Just grab a can of paint..

For a while now I have been ohing and ahring over some of the great makeovers in the land of blog. The changes some have been making by painting old pieces of china, pottery etc has been amzing so I decided to get myself some spray cans and have a go!!!
I had this really old pottery in my cupboard so I thought I would try this first.

As you can see this is pretty daggy but I really liked the shape of the bowl and it was in very good condition so I just cleaned it over and waited for it to dry then started on my transformation.

What a difference a can of paint can make....

I am so thrilled with the result - it looks so smooth and fresh.

The little salt and pepper shakers look great - I've been trying to think of something else to put in the top instead of corks - any ideas???
The sugar bowl looks ok here but I think I was a bit enthusiastic and sprayed that a bit too much so the paint has run a little on the back but it does have one 'good side' for display. LOL

The little heart shaped candle was pinched from another display and the jug of roses are from my bathroom table - I love the contrast with the woven mat underneath.

The green apples just seem to show the simplicity of the shapes. Isn't it funny - straight away I thought they would look good in there. I did try a few other bits and pieces from around the house but I liked this contrast best.

  1. OH! Those turned out just gorgeous! The corks just need a little bobble on top, but they look good like they are too! THUMBS UP!!!

  2. They look fabulous. I love to spray paint any and everything. I have even found that you can spray paint clear glass and now I am spraying even more. I love your wonderful white tabletop display. It looks fabulous. Hugs, Marty

  3. You did an excellent job! Where the paint ran, maybe you could use some sandpaper and "distress" it a little.

  4. Wow...what a transformation. The corks are great but I agree with another commenter..some little decoration on it might look great. Or how about spray painting them turqoise.

  5. Hi Suzy,
WOW! These pieces look great! I love their new look, and the apples really set things off. You are so inspirational...I need to be on the look out for great shapes in pottery! Then I can just spray away!

  9. I like how the white emphasizes the shapes of your set. But the original pattern had a tacky vintage charm that would have been nice preserved. It's a nice set, either way.

  17. Oh, don't give me any paint ideas....my hubby does not always love me painting ;-)! It came out so nice and looks much better. If they weren't salt and pepper shakers I might have said use some crystal wine stoppers on top....but that is not going to work with S & P! Oh it reminds me. I have some old silver S & P shakers and when my Grandkids were over, my Grandson dipped my salt shaker in the paint/water dish!!! Guess what? It is very clogged!
