Pink champagne

Just a very quick post today. I have been busy cleaning and painting our unit ready for the tenants to move in at the weekend so I’m a little tired tonight. Life has been very hectic this last week!!! I have a few snaps of the engagement party to share with you. It ended up being a very warm and steamy evening – so much better than the storms that were forecast all week.

Sorry about the rubbish bin in the middle of one of the photos…this what happens when you take photos in a hurry!! My clever daughter made and iced all these beautiful cupcakes. How clever is she??

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea

May is the fundraising month in Australia for the Cancer Foundation. This year DNo 1 decided she would have a morning tea to raise some money. She ended up raising over $500 which was a great effort. She raided my cupboards for anything red and white (her home has red accents) and started making plans.

We had the most lovely morning. Please excuse the blurry photos but I think there were 100 small children there (not really!) and it was quite hard to get some photos. This fundraising event is very dear to my heart as I lost my father from cancer 16 years ago. Sadly this terrible disease seems to touch us all.

Just a little Easter colour

I knew my friend was stopping by for a coffee over Easter so I did a little baking. Aren’t these little cupcake papers just beautiful?? They have tiny rabbits on them – just perfect for Easter.

I already had this tray set up on my kitchen table so I just moved that to the sunroom so we could sit there and enjoy the last of the sunshine coming through the window. I love these little papers – they are just big enough for one bite! I used a cream cheese topping (my favourite) on them. I adore these gorgeous eggs – I bought a three dozen crate of them!! Just the most gorgeous colours. I have used my interesting old coffee table that I revampped here - check it out - the diffence is amazing!
We had a very relaxing Easter and had dinner at my sister’s townhouse with them last night. She had set the most gorgeous table in blue and silver but I forgot my camera!!! I couldn’t believe it – I always carry my point and shoot with me but Mr FH and I had travelled to the city to see a football match and it was a little heavy in my bag so I took it out and forgot to put it back.
I hope you all had a lovely time with your family and friends.

Here comes the bride...

Hoping you are all having a lovely relaxing Sunday...I have just returned from a quick trip down to the south - west region of Western Australia - our wonderful wine growing country!!  I attended my girlfriend's daughters wedding (got that!). It was the most perfect afternooon - after all the terrible hot weather we have had it was so lovely to feel a little chilly. As I expected my friend J did a wonderful job of coordinating the whole day to perfection. The bride was absolutely stunning in ivory and the attendants wore a beautiful grape colour - just stunning. All the table decorations and floral arrangements were in off-white and pinks - my favourite colors!!

This is part of a beautiful display J had made for the bridal table - it was about 3ft long!

J had covered these vases with tulle then tied them with pink ribbon before filling them with beautiful flowers - such a shabby chic look!

This wonderful love heart was in the foyer of the reception centre - just a hint of what's to come....

Isn't this the most gorgeous wedding cake??? I just lurve it (and it tasted as good as it looks!)

Cupcakes and chocolate muffins!

Last weekend we were lucky enough to spend the weekend in Mandurah (a beautiful seaside town) with DNo 1 and her family. As usual we hit the shops - Spotlight to be exact and we picked up the pack of 4 cupcake plates for $10 - wow!! We both bought a pack so we have 8 between us to share!

They really inspired me to do some baking so it thought the most obvious thing to bake would be...
chocolate muffins!! While out shopping we also purchased some lovely Robert Gordon patty pans in a cute blue floral print. Just perfect I thought!

I had puchased a length of brown fabric with blue polka dots on it for the cloth (think the dots sent my camera funny cos the pictures aren't too good!) so used that with some pale blue napkins. I used my very old  brown cups and saucers from our wedding (33 years!!) and they matched perfectly. I still have the complete set with no chips. To frill things up a little I used a small white doily under the cup - these I 'borrowed' from my sister's coffee shop. I had this gorgeous cottage garden book that we browsed through as we had our cuppa.

The Donna Hay sugar sticks are my favourites - I don't know what I will do when they run out! They come in a container with four different colours - all pastels - pink, green, blue and a creamy colour.

I am still using my old camera while my good one is being fixed so I'm sorry the photos aren't too flash - I thought they looked better cropped!!
