Laundry Update

Last week when I had my few extra days off work I had time to make some little wooden chalkboard tags for my laundry jars. I had been looking out for some nice big jars to put on my laundry bench with my soaker and soap powder in. Most I have seen were about $40 each – way more than I was planning to spend so I kept searching until I came across these beauties at K-Mart for $5 each. Perfect for what I wanted. I searched through some old craft boxes and found these wooden hearts so I gave them a quick spray with some chalkboard paint and they were ready to go. A quick hole drilled in them and tied up with a bit of jute and they were finished.

I had put these bird cages up a while ago and yesterday I added the Family Rules sign. It is a very long narrow room with a door at each end so it’s really difficult to photograph. The Family Rules sign is opposite the bench with the hand basin. I think I might add a couple more jars along the bench – at that price it’s so easy!!!

A shabby old window

bluea
I’ve had the last two weeks off work – I arranged for a replacement before I had my dental work done not knowing how I would be feeling. I have been fine this last week but decided to still take this week off so I could catch up with a few things around the farm house. I was a great idea as I have loved just pottering around, doing some cleaning, a little gardening and changing a few things around. The first place I changed was the top of the TV cabinet ready for spring. I hade been searching for an old white painted window for ages and finally found one the other day. I sanded it a little and generally cleaned it up to use. I am really happy how it turned out. Everything else I gathered up from around the house.

Here’s what it looked like when I started to clean it!!

I found this picture of the hydrangeas I had printed off ages ago and had put it in this distressed frame so I thought it just fitted in perfectly.
I love it when everything is clean …..now to start on the real windows!!

Spring colours

As we are nearing the end of winter it is time to get out and clean up the garden  little. I have taken two weeks off work as I have had some major dental work happening. I developed a massive infection in my front tooth which required the removal of my tooth. Yes, shock horror, you read that right. Any dental work is a major happening for me but this was just about too much for me to handle. Luckily I have an amazing endodontist who has done a wonderful job at treating me. I now have a fake tooth in the front which I will now wear for three months until the gum has healed. I had lost a large area of bone which we thought might need a bone graft but thankfully we haven’t had to go there…yet!! I knew all along that my teeth would look better in the end but getting to the end was the problem!! I am having an implant done which is costing about $10000.00 so heres hoping it looks great!! Hopefully I will have chance this week to set a lovely table but I will share this pretty one I did last year for Easter. Just love this colour mix!!

We are having the most lovely weather at the moment – warm days but wonderful crisp mornings – don’t forget I am in Australia and we are heading towards winter!!
What better than to set a table, pretty with Easter colours, out in the garden. Usually at this time of the year my garden is very parched and thirsty looking but because we have had such amazing summer rains everything is green. Especially the weeds!!!
Well, I guess you can’t win them all.

Nothing says Easter like pink and yellow!! I have used these colours together at my sister’s gift shop and people are amazed that I have put them together. I think they are just gorgeous.

How gorgeous do those colours look with the sun shining on them???
IMG_2851a
My overgrown creeper on the fence behind is such a healthy green against the sherbet colours on the table.
IMG_2856a
Even my faded cushions from my sunroom look great on this old outdoor setting I picked up from the side of the road (much to my son’s disgust!)

I have used my pink polka dot flatware (I love that stuff!) and also a white set. Pink napkins I have had for a while but the yellow ones I found thrifting last year.

Now you can see what I mean about my overgrown creeper!!! Better than a dead creeper though! I love the way the rust is showing through the paint on the chairs (actually they are really rusty and I wouldn’t sit on them).

The flowers are off the bookcase in my familyroom so I just added a few little yellow heads to the arrangement.

More faded cushions but I do love those colours.

Christmas is just around the corner

Last weekend I went for a wander around some lovely shops near our beachhouse and I found the most gorgeous Christmas shop. It was chock full of gorgeous Christmas decorations. I have such a soft spot for Christmas….I just love it as does Mr FH , which is quite rare for a male!!! I managed to take a few snaps with my phone but they really aren’t too good. I’m unsure of what colour I will be having for my table and decorations this year. I am actually leaning more towards the traditional red, green and gold. What are you thinking???
