Awards night!!

liebster-award

Thank you, Armelle from La Vie Vintage Bleu. This morning I woke up to have the lovely surprise of being awarded the Liebster Award. This award is for bloggers with less than 200 followers (a bit over is accepted, I’m told LOL) and who have a lovely blog.

I award this to five more bloggers who I have been visiting (ok lurking!) and I feel they are worthy of a mention.

2. Post the award.
3. Share the 5 blogs you are awarding the Liebster with and let them know that they have received it.
4. Enjoy the new attention this award brings to your blog.

Snaps from the beach house

page 1ab
Today we travelled home to the farm house. I wasn’t that sad about leaving the beach house as we are going back on Thursday evening. Our school year is about to start so it’s back to work for 3 days each week. usually I just work 2 day but for 5 weeks I am working one extra day for a friend. This gives me a little more money to spend!!!!
Before we left the beach house I snapped a few photos of my dining/living area. It is quite different to my farm house.

One of my favourite things are the black lamp shades. I just love the way the light shows through to make lovely patterns on the walls.
Tomorrow I have a busy day mowing lawns and raking leaves that have blown in so that when I return to work things look a little tidier!!

Fish & chips by the water

Well, tomorrow we head home to the farmhouse as I start work again on Tuesday….it’s not all sadness though as we will be back on Thursday evening for an extended weekend. We will do this for a few more weeks while the weather is hot. DNo 1 and her two boys came for a sleepover this week and we all went out for lunch. It was soooo hot it was unbelievable. We decided on fish and chips (not the best on a hot day but good holiday food none the less!!).

We certainly can’t have this at home!!! Actually I’m quite looking forward to getting home (did I say that??) and updating a few things around the house. I just need the weather to cool down a little before I take on any big projects.

Ice Cream Bar

Just after the New Year our darling second little grandson turned one!! How time flies…….he is the most gorgeous little man who lets me kiss him non-stop and never tries to ‘get away’ from Nanny!! My daughter organised a birthday party for him and I had gathered together everything for an ice cream bar at Christmas which we didn’t get to use so it was the perfect time to bring it out. It was a lovely warm day with all the kids and their dads splashing around in the pool for hours so an ice cream bar was just perfect!!

Just look at these gorgeous summer colours!! I had found these at a local supermarket for 99c each. As you can see I stocked up ready for a big Christmas crowd.
IMG_2552a
I was going to have hot pink accents which we had to change slightly for a dear little boy’s first birthday party.
IMG_2551a
Rows and rows of yummy colours.
IMG_2549a
After the party I realised this photo was the closest thing I got to a shot of the overall table. I sometimes get a bit carried away and forget that I’m supposed to be taking photos for my blog!
IMG_2550a
I had printed and laminated labels for the ice cream toppings.
IMG_2553a
Such a selection of extras for the top!!
IMG_2555a
I’m sure the kids couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw all of this – actually most of their parents couldn’t either!
IMG_2556a
My favourites!
IMG_2557a
The selection was amazing.

These cones were just so yummy…they seemed to have a slight chocolatey flavour to them. Delicious!! The pink tray in the background was filled with ice and three different flavoured tubs of ice cream were placed in there for everyone to serve themselves. I forgot to take photos of that when we had it all organised.

How wonderful is this cake??? My daughter made it herself and decorated it in colours just like Boppy’s (Mr FH) tractor on the farm. I thought it was just wonderful.
IMG_2565a
How cool are these face biscuits?? My daughters have become such wonderful capable mums of which I am very proud.

More yummy cakes. We had such a wonderful day! I had seen a post by The Tablescaper who had set a table similar to this for her children so I can’t claim the idea as mine!!

Beautiful white flowers

I can’t believe it is half way through January…… We have had such a busy time with lots of visitors to the beach house. Yesterday they all returned home except for my mum so today is floor washing and bathroom cleaning day!!!!

I set this pretty table just before Christmas. I had bought myself a beautiful bunch of flowers and just loved the white and green colours so that set the colour for the table.

I had bought a whole stack of these parfait glasses (which I will show you in a later post!) so thought they would match well with the flowers.

I used my favourite black and white dinnerware along with some pretty green dinner plates. Once again this cute cloth brings out all the right colours. The black candle sticks are new – $5 each at Kmart! I’m thinking I might purchase some more and spray paint some of them different colours or maybe try some mercury glass paint on them!

Fun filled Christmas night

Well, I guess it’s better late than never!!! Here we are at the 10th of January and I am still posting Christmas tables – I was going to tell you all this table was for New Years but I realized I had Christmas crackers so I had to come clean!!
Christmas in Australia is always a really hot day so this year I decided our table for Christmas night would be a ‘fun’ table with lots of colour. I had four main colours – gorgeous blue, bright green, hot pink and stunning purple. Not your usual Christmas colours but it is amazing how many colours decorations come in these days!!
We had extended family join us in the evening so we used our empty theatre room (hopefully we will be able to purchase furniture soon LOL!). Please excuse our plastic stacker chairs too!
This is fairly overloaded with photos so beware!!
