A cupful of daisies

On Saturday morning when I walked through my familyroom this is what greeted me....the spring sunshine peeking through my blinds. What a lovely sight! Australia is having some bizarre things going on, weather wise at the moment. We have had very little rain and our crops and stock feed are really suffering and the eastern states are having floods - how does this happen??? In the perfect world we would all be getting just the right amount but most of us know this is not a perfect world.
So what does a girl do when the sun is shining brightly after a cold winter- spring clean of course!! I am sharing with you some photos of my familyroom and a couple of table displays I put together.

Now here goes for the guided tour....looking to the left of the entrance door is my side table - I always have some pretty books just to browse at while watching telly. I had these pretty daisies in the garden and I thought they look great in this pretty little cup

Some sweet smelling potpourri is always lovely to have close by..

Next we have our main couch - I really wanted a white one but I had to be a bit sensible (sometimes it happens lol) so I decided on dark green leather and I dress it up with pinks and creams. I made these cushion covers a couple of years ago and purchased the rose print when I was recovering from major surgery on my shoulder and needed a pick-me-up!! Nothing like a bit of retail therapy!!

The right hand side of the couch is where Mr FH sits - he has the lovely books there to lift up the light so he can read the paper not to browse through for inspiration!!!!

This table is an old tea trolley which I restored and it is perfect for holding china and also a pile of magazine which seem to take over my house.

  I

I love this pretty tea set against the dark wood - it makes it look more fragile I think.

Moving further along we come to my antique sewing machine which you have seen before here. This is one of my favourite peices.

I have this gorgeous painting above the sewing machine - DNo 2 gave it to me a couple of years ago for my birthday. I had it framed and it was on the wall in my bedroom for ages but I decided to bring it into this room.

Moving right along past the single chair we have the book case which I have shown you before here.

I have skipped past my tv cabinet which I have shown you the top of here. Next to that I have this cute magazine holder (well, ok, newspapers!)  that I have piled high.

Just past that I have my big fire which I takes up the whole corner - winters get a bit cold around here!!

Finally, I have this cute book case. It is only about 12'' deep so it is perfect for the little spot between the fire and the door into the office. I bought it for $40 from our school in a silent auction a while ago. I love being able to display favourite books up the top. The selection of teddies came from DNo 1 when she was travelling around Europe when I had a more country decorating style but I have left them there for my grandies to play with.

Isn't this display shelf just great!!! I have learnt though that I do need to change the books around fairly often as they tend to go out of shape (something I hate!!).

Well, I hope you have enjoyed your little tour of my favourite room.

Suzy

Good morning Suzy!!
Oh, your spring sun looks lovely shining on your china. The daisies are just lovely. Spring is such a powerful time of year.
I am in eastern Ontario Canada and our hot summer weather has very quickly changed over the last few days to a cooler, rainy clime. The heat of the high 20s and low 30s has given in to cooler winds from the north. The leaves are beginning to change and I am looking forward to woolly sweaters, soups and stews and apple pies!
I will send you some gentle rains and more spring sunshine.
Thank you for sharing your familyroom. I will be posting my familyroom in a few days, so please drop in when you can.
Warm hugs, Laura

Hi Suzy,
You have such a delightful home and collection of tea sets and china...I was even more excited to see you are from Australia, and WA no less...I was born and raised in Albany but relocated to the USA when I married 10yrs ago.

Was sorry to read the crops are suffering again this year, I know you guys have had a rough couple of years now...Hope it gets better soon.

Hello Suzy,
I just love your happy little flowers in the teacup. I must admit I envy you your springtime coming on! Here where I live, we're entering fall season and then the dreaded winter after that. I am NOT a winter person at all! I would love to live in a climate where it is spring-summer all year round! I do hate the cold!
You have a wonderfully warm and inviting home with lots of books and magazines! Thank you for the tour and I love your pansy tea set!

Blessings,
Sandi

Enjoyed the tour of your home and peeking at all your magazines - I too am a magazine junky.
I used to sew on a machine just like yours when I was a teenager but a cousin asked for it to sew leather crafts she sold as the speed could be controlled better than with an electric machine.

I loved your house tour and you gave me some neat ideas!
Your china pieces are so sweet and I see some of my favorite books too :-)
If the Singer machine is a treadle I had the very same one!!! I sold it a couple years ago and could kick myself for doing so!
Thank you for putting together such a fun post!

Hi Suzy,
I love the sun beaming in on these lovely vingettes. And I would love all that beautiful china!
Thank you for stopping by the sewing room. Yes I did make the lamp shade from the 11 yards of theme fabric I bought:) I found the shade at a fabric shop which has a pattern to cut to size then hot glued lots of old buttons around the bottom.
Hope you entered the give away:)
