Spring cleaning in winter

Today I thought I would share with you some photos of what I’ve been up to at the farm house!!! Hope you can handle this…….I must add that thankfully I finally just about have things sorted. I love my new carpets so it really was worth all the mess – did I just say that????

This is my familyroom before we had the carpet replaced. I know the house doesn’t look to bad at this stage…but wait..

Ha ha, this is our bed!! And our printer…and lots of other junk. See that doll sitting on the chair…that’s me!! My girlfriend made it for me when I turned 50!!! Looks like I’m having a bad hair day!

More junk!! I’m glad to report this chair is now back to normal and not covered with stuff. It is amazing just how much I have either sent to a charity or taken to the dump. Feels good!

Daughter’s bedroom!

Son’s bedroom – this is the roll out shelving from our walk-in robe. Thank goodness we were able to just roll them from room to room. It saved such a lot of work.

There you have it. If you would like to see my familyroom in a better state have a look here and my bedroom usually looks like this.

Hopefully I’ll have photos to share of my nice clean rooms soon.

Back to work tomorrow…

Bedrooms

I’ve been thinking about updating my bedroom and have found some really beautiful ones that I love. My mind is really confused now!!!

Aren’t these just so beautiful and restful??

I now realise from this little exercise that I am heading towards some lovely neutral colours. Far different from the hot pink feature wall I have in my bedroom now!!

Spring cleaning

I have been trying to do my spring cleaning...well, I've done one room and I'm on a mission to do a room each week. Sounds good in theory, doesn't it?? This week I cleaned out a guestroom (or DNo2's old bedroom). I still have the wardrobes to go through as they are filled with my summer clothes. I really need to sift through them and transfer the ones I want into my wardrobe and send the rest to charity. I thought I would share some photos of this room with you.

Once again we have pink walls - probably more my choice than my daughter's!!

This pretty floral quilt sometimes lives on my bed - I love to change things around a bit so I can have a different look without spending any money.

I love this piece of iron work above the bed - it is actually garden art from my sister's nursery but I thought it was perfect above the bed.

The afternoon sun is just peeping through the trees.

A few little pretties on the bedside table.

I have pretty plates on the walls in many of the rooms of my house - I just love them even if they are looking a bit shabby. (Whoops, looks like my fingers are in this photo! lol)

Lovely bath oils and lotions for guests to enjoy.

More candles on the dresser.

This poor old patchwork ted looks a bit lonely now - he had a smaller brother but SNo 1's dog managed to get inside when I wasn't home oneday and totally wrecked the small bear.

Have a lovely week,   Suzy

Master bedroom at the beach house

I have been having so much fun decorating our beach house - it is just so different to the farm house that it really has been a challenge. Today I am going to share the master bedroom with you. I love this room - it is really big and we have purchased a wonderful sleigh bed, bedside cupboards and a tallboy to match.

As you can see from the light coming in at the left the window and door to the balcony are on this side - we have ocean views when lying in bed!! This is pure luxury to me who at the moment is looking at dry & dusty paddocks

When we had our furniture delivered I was really stumped with what to put above the bed. There really wasn't enough room for a print with the three little windows above but I just wanted something.

I was flicking through a magazine and I came across the wonderful ad from Wallwords in the USA. I couldn't help myself when I saw the above quote - it was just what I wanted. Thank goodness for the internet as I was able to order it straight away and I received it here at the farm house in no time at all. It is just perfect for that little space.

I have gone with neutral tonings for this room as it has a feature wall behind the bed which I really liked.

I am now on the look out for all the little touches I need to make it feel like my home - you know what I mean, photo frames, things to put on the bedside tables and just those finishing touches.

Time to Paint?

What do you think?  I am getting the urge to paint and redecorate and I'm thinking of painting my bedroom cream (I'm sure I had it cream years ago and now I'm doing a full circle LOL) and having it all in muted cream and white colours.

At the moment it is pink and flowery but maybe I'm past that..... You can see just how pink it is here. Son No1 said recently to his father that he could not see how he could sleep in here so that got me thinking..is it time for a change?

I have a lovely white bed cover under the quilts which I would keep and the curtains are white so they could stay so really it's just the paint colour and the accessories that would have to be changed.
I'm really warming to this I think. Dangerous really cos when I get something in my mind it can't stop thinking and planning. I would love to paint our bedhead which is pretty old but Mr FH is a bit boring like that..I'll have to work on him.

I'm actually not sure how I think I can find time for this but my mind is working overtime...
