Cancer Foundation Fundraising

Last Thursday we held our annual fundraising afternoon tea for the Cancer Foundation. We have held this fundraising for the last few years at our primary school. It is such a lot of work for the staff but so worth it. We have a tiny school with just 7 students and the same amount of staff (I know, it doesn’t make sense!!) so it really is a very important day to us. This last 6 months we have had 5 ladies in our extended community who have been diagnosed with breast cancer – that is a fairly high rate given the amount of people in our communities.
Each year I pack up a lot of my pretty china and take in to use for the day. All the staff cook the afternoon tea, we all hep with the decorations and the students take the orders for the drinks and serve the food. A great day to be part of.

We had an amazing collection of prises for the raffle – all donated by staff, family and local businesses.

Winter is not far off here – we have had a couple of very cold days and nights. Time to light the fire and get rugged up. I can’t wait.

Spring colours

I just had to set this table last week to try to catch the lovely sunrays coming through the window. I had bought this cute fabric a while ago to make into napkins but as yet that hadn't happened so I just ironed the edges under and used it as a placemat.

We have been having lovely spring weather which I love nearly as much as autumn. Unfortunately I am not a big fan of summer but now we have the beachhouse that certainly makes it more bearable!! I picked these pretty pale blue napkins up recently for $5 for a pack of 4.

I thought my Robert Gordon china was just perfect for a spring time table. I love the mix of pretty florals and jazzy stripes. You can see more of it here.

How cute are these little butterfly tealights? I didn't have any holders (they had been left at the beachhouse) so I had to make do with what I had. These napkin rings turned on their side worked perfectly.

These salt and pepper shakers are new - one is a birdhouse and the other a watering can. Just perfect for a spring table.

The sun was really shining in here now....actually this photo is a bit of a give away - I had the table set up in my daughter's bedroom and you can see her bed here!

Yummy, yummy colours.

The wall colour in the background was the perfect match for this table!

I think I might actually stitch these placemats up to use them again. Don't they just scream spring!!!

Creamy White Roses

Hello everyone. I hope you have all had a lovely weekend - mine was very busy. I was minding my two grandies so I have come home to the farm to go to work for a rest. Do you ever get that feeling??? This week my table is a very simple afternoon tea table with my favourite Robert Gordon china which you can see here.  I picked the lovely bunch of roses from the wonderful climber which is over an arch near my back door. At the moment it looks a lot like it is snowing here!
