French cushions

I have been working really hard at home this week. It’s amazing how much you can get done if you stay at home for a while!! We are really busy harvesting on the farm so I have been in and out of the house helping where ever I can!! I have managed to finish one project though!!
When Daughter No 1 had a birthday in August I was making her some cushion covers for her theatre room. As they had just moved into their new home they were using their old brown leather couch until they were able to purchase a new one. We decided some new cushions would be the answer to update the room a little. I had seen a gorgeous brown, cream and yellow den over at Dittle Dattle so we went with that colour scheme. I printed off some French panels (from The Graphics Fairy, I think) and set about making them up. Unfortunately I had used spray adhesive which marked the front panels so I had to redo them. I just wasn’t happy with them so I thought it was best to start again. Well, finally I have them finished. I did have some photos of the fabrics and the printed panels before I made them up but when my laptop died so did the photos!! I followed Marty from A  Stroll Thru Life to put the binding on my cushions – she is a whiz at this!!

I bound all the cushions in brown – it’s a bit hard to see against the brown background. I love this gold and brown fabric I used as a contrast.
I’m off to visit my daughter on Wednesday so I hope she likes these cushions now they are finally finished.

Book Makeover

Wow, I have been busy!!! The weather has been just so hot here it is unbelievable. I think we have had about 10 days of over 34o temperatures - I think that is over the 100 mark for those not in Australia! Too hot anyway, so I've had to resort to a little fiddling in my craft room with the airconditioner on full!

I have been culling out old decorating books and have been ripping out pages of pictures and ideas I like and just ended up with a stack of loose papers when I saw Brenda's (CozyLittleCottage) wonderful inspiration books so I thought I'd have a try.

I started off with a book just like this but with a purple cover so that really set the colour scheme for me.

At $1.95 each I thought these books were great value. I tried (really I did!) to use all my stock paper and letters but I may have bought just one packet of letters.

This is my book with my initials on the front. When DNo 1 and SNo1's girlfriend saw this they just loved it so I have made them one each also one for DNo 2! I'm not sure which one to give each of them so I think I might wrap them then let them choose.

The girls are all keen cooks so I thought they could use them to paste in recipes they have collected. Me, I'm past getting excited about cooking so ideas for the farm house and the beach house will fill mine.

The green covered book I am going to cover ready for my photography class which I hope starts this week.

Happy Monday,
Suzy

PS I still have my pile of loose pages to paste in!!

Card Making

Yesterday I had such a nice day - it was very dull and very cool here at the farm house in Australia so I decided to spend the day doing something I love but don't seem to get a lot of time to do -card making.
My Aunt was having a birthday so I made her a pack of birthday cards to use for her friends -I'm sure she sends a card to everyone in Australia on their birthday!! It really is so relaxing (except for the mess I make!).

Sorry I keep taking my photos in my sunroom but the light is so bad elsewhere at the moment (and sorry about the cord dangling in the background!).

I placed them all in individual cello bags along with an envelope before I sent them off in the post.

What a shame I have to do housework and washing and ironing - I have asked Mr FH if I could have a housekeeper so I can just 'be creative' and he laughed so I guess that's a 'no'!!!
