Royal Albert Chintz

A few years ago when my Dad died he left me some money - not a lot but money he had worked hard for and had saved so I decided I would buy myself something really nice to keep in his memory. I thought for quite a while before I decided on a Royal Albert dinner set in Old Country Roses design. Over the years I have been lucky enough to receive lots of accessories to match. I thought I would share it with you for this week's teascapes.

This tall glass is actually a candle that matches the colour of the roses perfectly.

I love cups all stacked up like this - especially when they are this pretty!!

The chintz plates are really my all time favourite - if I could have a complete dinner set like this I would be in heaven!

I have matching placemats and coasters in two different sizes - it is amazing how many accessories there are too match.

Even a guest book - please take the time to leave me a message. lol

More cups piled high.

No table would be complete without the matching salt and pepper shakers, sugar bowl and creamer. We received this beautiful sugar spoon as a wedding present - it has a beautiful rose on the end.

Platters in all shapes and sizes...

Even a pretty little cake stand - once again I have been baking (not)!!

How stunning is this chintz?? I love this in any colour - not that I have any but I have seen lots in antique shops. On my wish list.....

This china is also Royal Albert Old Country Roses but in a more country style - not quite as dainty as the other.

I had intentions of painting this old dresser before I showed any photos but as usual time just gets away. I still intend painting it so I will keep you posted and show it to you once it is finished.

Tea with Albert

Well, I had a lovely day out on Thursday at a luncheon with the gorgeous name of 'Diamonds in the Dust" for Women in Agriculture (ie farmer's wives). There were some wonderful speakers and a great lunch but more importantly a diamond worth $1000 to be won!! Out of the 110 ladies who attended I got down to the last 8!! How exciting but unfortunately I didn't win though there was one happy lady going home with her prize.

I've decided to make a little tea tray for myself to sit and relax with while I zip around blogland for all the usual tea parties.

I have been taking some photos of my collection of Royal Albert china to share with you later and I think this lovely pale green cup and saucer would have to be my favourite. It is just so dainty.

I have these gorgeous doyleys that are a perfect match for my tray setting. Once again I found these in our old farm house - they just needed a good soak and an iron and they came up beautifully.

I have used my sugar sticks again!! I find these really useful for tray settings as they don't take up as much room as a sugar bowl (also I sometimes don't have one to match!! LOL).

Can I tempt you with a small cupcake?? They are very low calorie...in fact they are fake but super cute, don't you agree??

More and more pink roses...just what a girl like me needs.

I was so surprised how the flowers on the cup are the perfect match for the doyley.

A sweet rose scented candle does wonders for the soul.

Aren't these colours delicious - my new beach house is in very different colours to those I have at the farm house - I have been snapping away I hope to bring you some snaps soon.

This is a cute little saucer I bought years ago from a 2nd hand store - sadly it doesn't have a cup but I can only imagine how pretty it would have been complete.

Black tea or do you take milk??

I hope you have enjoyed joining me for an afternoon cup of tea,

Suzy

Afternoon Tea with me!

Today at the farmhouse I have decided to set a small table for afternoon tea! I was lucky enough to find a set of 6 of these cups and saucers (they also have a plate to match which I should have included!!) wrapped in newspaper in a box in an old house we have on the farm. They are in perfect condition and sit at the top of my shabby dresser which is on my header. I just love the gorgeous roses on them.

The teapot and milk jug I purchased from Myer just because I loved the colouring of the flowers. The sugar bowl is from my collection of Royal Albert Country Roses dinnerware - I just adore this china - my kids think I am crazy that I get so much enjoyment from buying beautiful china - they just don't get it!!

This little jug I purchased from an antique store while on holidays one year. It is such a great size - I use it all the time to pop a few little flowers in - sometimes (often!) my garden is lacking a bit with not many blooms around so this jug is just right.

I could have poured some sugar into the bowl, don't you think?!  I love this little china handbag - I have three of these, pink, green and yellow. I bought them quite a few years ago. They are actually Christmas decorations - imagine a tree just covered with little handbags!!! Too die for!!

Come and join me for a cuppa...
