Table for two!!

Well, the world seems to be filled with pink and red at the moment so I thought I would join the Valentine train! Finally, I have found some lovely red and white spotted plates. I love them and I’m sure they will be used over and over. I set up a small table for two and covered it with a white cloth. After setting everything up I thought the table still looked like it needed ‘something’. I finally decided to add a piece of red and white toile fabric to one corner. To me, toile is such a romantic fabric so it fitted in just right. Everything else was found around the farm house as I am now home from holidays. Work tomorrow!!! Not sure how I’ll make it through the whole day without a nanna nap though!

Happy Monday!!

PS I've had a few people enquire where I purchased this gorgeous spotty dinnerware...I bought the dinner plate and salad plate from our main supermarket, Woolworths, here in Australia and the dessert plate (Maxwell & Williams) is part of a set I have had for a while.

Candy cane hearts

When Mr FH & I travel home to our farm we pass through a little town that sells the best gerberas in their craft shop.  Apparently a local farmer grew them for a couple of supermarket chains who later found another source to supply them so he has kept growing them and now donates them to the craft store. The lady at the store has them by the bucket full and customers can take as many as they want for a donation to the Cancer Council ( an organisation that is very dear to my heart).  She has raised a lot of money over the last three years. I picked up a bunch of red and white flowers last week when I went home and this evening decided they would be perfect for a Valentine’s table. (I was trying to get away from the Christmas colours but the flowers were too beautiful not to use!)

I used my leftover candy canes (which I purchased at Red Dot which is like the Dollar Tree, I think!!) to make the striped hearts at each setting. I only have white dinnerware here at the beach house so I just worked with what I had. I am proud to say I didn’t purchase anything new for this table!!!

Valentine Day

This week I’m cheating a little…..this is a post I did a long time ago when I first started blogging. Life just seems to be taking over my blogging Laughing out loud! I really think I’m spending too much time at the beach house but last weekend we enjoyed the most beautiful weather there so it’s so hard to stay at the farm house for the weekend………..
Finally, our weather has cooled off enough for me to get outside and set a table... I thought I would do this little table suitable for a Valentine's Day breakfast with Mr FH.  I shifted lugged my table and chairs off the front porch (in Australia we call it a verandah but I think porch is so much more romantic..) and set them up under a tree in the shade. Then I gathered up lots of vintage bits and pieces I had put away just for a table like this and packed it all up in a picnic hamper..
I love the soft creamy white colours of the old china and the cute bowls I added for fruit.
How beautiful are these wonderful old salt and peper shakers? When I found them they were so dirty I have had to scrub them clean - I haven't used silver cleaner as I really love them the way they are.
Life on the farm looks pretty good here - it's hard to believe we had the most amazing storm yesterday...
I found a box of vintage cutlery but sadly most of the bone handles have all broken so I will be on the look out for some replacements.
I will be joining Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch for her lovely Tablescape Thursday to see all the wonderful tables this week.

Sorry these photos are a bit blurry - I have had to send my camera 'away' - does anyone else wonder where 'away' is and why it takes so long for anything to come back???
