Places I’ve Been

I’ve been wanting to join ‘Oh, the PLACES I’ve been for ages and I haven’t really been anywhere exciting so I thought I’d share with you the places I really have been lately. These pictures will show you why I have had very little time to read blogs or even think about blogging lately!!! I live on a large farm in Australia (7300 ac) which Mr FH and I run by ourselves. Seeding time is very busy so I am sharing with you some snaps from out and about on the farm. We have just finished planting 2300 ac of crop (canola, barley and wheat) and we run about 5000 sheep. I don’t do any tractor driving but I do help out with everything else. Over the years I have received a couple of serious injuries from working in the sheep yards and I find it very tiring doing farm work. My idea of a great day is dressing up and ‘doing lunch’ and a little bit of shopping, not working on the farm!! I hope you enjoy these photos!

Can you see the vapour trail in this last photo?? We are on the main flight path to the eastern states and we always see these gorgeous features across our sky…wish I was up there at this moment!!

Sunday morning at the garden centre.

Last week when Mr FH and I were babysitting our two grandsons we decided to take them out for morning tea to a nearby nursery. Actually, the truth is the noise levels were getting a bit high so we took them out to share them around!! Do you ever do that?? We had a lovely morning just wandering around this pretty nursery in the dappled sunlight. We loved all the quirky little featured the staff had added to the displays. The huge established trees were magnificent.

This is where we had our morning tea. Sorry no photos- I was busy trying to make sure there weren’t any spillages.

We have just noticed our neighbours at the beach house have planted a Ficus  like this on our fence line. Somehow I think we need to talk!!

What a great idea this was….little kids riding bikes all over the place and just so happy to be there with Mum and Dad.
What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning.

Thrifty Finds

I wasn’t planning on setting a blue table this week but I found these lovely blue glasses at the thrift store on the weekend so I just had to use them. I’ve been looking at all the gorgeous wine glasses with beautiful coloured stems for ages but every time I saw them in the shops they were about $25 each. Way too much!  So when I spied these the other day for $1.50 each I grabbed them as quickly as I could.

Instead of having blue and white I decided to be a little different and set my Calico ware china with taupe plates instead. The flatware I had bought a while back was a perfect match. (Sorry about the bits on the napkins left from the burlap runner!)

Once again I was having trouble making some sort of centrepiece for the table. I just used a lovely hurricane I had received for my birthday and gathered up some small cups, saucers, china balls and spare lids and piled them up.
The table ended up looking a bit ‘fallish’ again but that’s ok I got to use my new glasses!!

Autumn Tablescape

It's hard to believe it's Thursday again. Everyone's favourite day - Tablescape Thursday!!!

I set this table a while ago - I had bought this piece of fabric ready for a display at my sister's gift shop so I thought I'd use it for a tablescape first!! It has real autumn colours.

These green dinner plates are a little purchase I made - it is not my usual colour but I am trying to get out of my comfort zone occasionally!!

The napkins are a sale item from Target - about $1.00 each if I remember rightly!

Once agin I have used my everyday white dinnerware - it is amazing just how many different ways it can be used!  This flatware was also from Target and also on sale - I can't resist a bargain!

The end of my table was looking a little bare so I had a bit of a search around the house to see what I could come up with - the bird cage I recently bought for $10 and I think is going to get a spray paint (maybe white??) and the glasses, binoculars and old books all belonged to Mr FH's grandfather.  I use the stack of books as a door stop!

I love the build up of dirt  character on these old binoculars. I have no idea how old they would be but I'm guessing quite a bit older than me!!

What a great candle this is for Autumn - it is filled with gorgeous dried leaves. I wish I could claim to have made it with my own fair hands but no, I bought it ages ago. Isn't it so cool??

It's a cold old winter's day here today so I have been making cards - I hope to share them with you soon.

Autumn Roses

Finally my autumn roses are starting to bloom.
What is it about roses that just seem so perfect - even neglected ones like mine???
Today the sun is shining brightly so it is time to get some gardening done before the cold sets in.
