This and that!!

Well, here I am ready and waiting for the new year to begin. December has just been a big whirlwind for me with lots of Christmas functions, family visits, harvesting on the farm and most exciting of all…..leasing our farm so we are hoping 2014 brings with it lots of great times, travel and generally the next step in our life.
I have a selection of photos from around the beachhouse that have been taken over the last few weeks. I will leave you in peace to enjoy them!!

Metamorphosis Monday

I have been trying to finish off my Christmas decorating. I have found this a little hard this year as I have decorations at the farm house and also at the beach house and they all seem to be at the wrong house!! Talking of houses we’ve had a busy time this last week…..last Monday we were hit by a severe storm and it dumped 4 1/2 inches of rain – mainly on the farmhouse!! Rain like that at this time of the year is just what we don’t need. Harvest has come to a grinding holt and we’ve been busy doing sheep work. We had a quick trip to the beach house which was unexpected but nice. We received quite a bit of flooding in our house – mainly on the south side where our familyroom, office and main bedroom are. Carpets have been really soaked so we are waiting for our insurance company to sort this out. I’m still trying to finalise last months storm damage to our electrical goods!

In between all of this I have done a quick redo of the kitchen dresser with a few Christmas plates. It’s amazing how you get into the feel of Christmas once the decorations start to appear!

I was able to set our Christmas lunch table while I was at the beach house on the weekend so I was happy to have that ready and waiting!!

Copycat Tablescape

When I saw that Debbie Doo’s was having a copycat party I knew exactly what I was going to do. I had just seen a gorgeous table and had thought to myself ‘I can do that!!’ I already had just about everything I needed so I fiddled around until I was happy with the result.

I did have a bag of lovely red apples for the centre but before I could set my table someone has eaten them!!! I just substituted some red Christmas balls.

I hope you enjoy this gorgeous country Christmas table.

Christmas lunch for two.

Even though I have tried many different colours at Christmas (mainly pink and silver at the farm house) I think red and green just seem to scream Christmas to me. I am lucky as my beachhouse leans more to these colours so I am able to have a little bit of each!

I started todays table with a pretty tablecloth I had made from a lovely piece of Christmas fabric many years ago. I have used my red dinnerset which I purchased this year.

I made these double sided napkins to use during the festive season so they were perfect for today's table.

These wonderful red chargers I purchased a couple of years ago but sadly there were only two so I usually only use them as serving plates but they fitted in  perfectly with this table.

As you can see I have had a change of mind.... I added the large white chargers just to break up the 'redness'.

Not bad I think, nice for a little luncheon with a close friend.

It's lucky I don't throw anything out - these simple white napkins rings are perfect to finish off the setting. I have had them for about 20 years I think. I must have known I was going to become addicted to tablescaping!!!

I'm off to Perth today to finish a little bit of shopping and to take in a movie with DNo1. We are going to see Due Date which could be quite funny as she has only 3 weeks until her due date!!

Christmas China

I just love Christmas china - I really can't get enough of it - some in the brights like this platter, some in the real old world Christmas style, some in the frosted glass - it doesn't matter I just love it all!
Tonight we are going out to a Christmas party and I am taking some nibbles - I have made this yummy dip - sun-dried tomatoes and cashew nuts! It is very hot here today so I think this will be just fine with a few cold drinks!! I made the little bread pieces with my cookie cutters and just put them in the oven to crisp up. Hope they taste OK.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
