Spring colours

As we are nearing the end of winter it is time to get out and clean up the garden  little. I have taken two weeks off work as I have had some major dental work happening. I developed a massive infection in my front tooth which required the removal of my tooth. Yes, shock horror, you read that right. Any dental work is a major happening for me but this was just about too much for me to handle. Luckily I have an amazing endodontist who has done a wonderful job at treating me. I now have a fake tooth in the front which I will now wear for three months until the gum has healed. I had lost a large area of bone which we thought might need a bone graft but thankfully we haven’t had to go there…yet!! I knew all along that my teeth would look better in the end but getting to the end was the problem!! I am having an implant done which is costing about $10000.00 so heres hoping it looks great!! Hopefully I will have chance this week to set a lovely table but I will share this pretty one I did last year for Easter. Just love this colour mix!!

We are having the most lovely weather at the moment – warm days but wonderful crisp mornings – don’t forget I am in Australia and we are heading towards winter!!
What better than to set a table, pretty with Easter colours, out in the garden. Usually at this time of the year my garden is very parched and thirsty looking but because we have had such amazing summer rains everything is green. Especially the weeds!!!
Well, I guess you can’t win them all.

Nothing says Easter like pink and yellow!! I have used these colours together at my sister’s gift shop and people are amazed that I have put them together. I think they are just gorgeous.

How gorgeous do those colours look with the sun shining on them???

My overgrown creeper on the fence behind is such a healthy green against the sherbet colours on the table.

Even my faded cushions from my sunroom look great on this old outdoor setting I picked up from the side of the road (much to my son’s disgust!)

I have used my pink polka dot flatware (I love that stuff!) and also a white set. Pink napkins I have had for a while but the yellow ones I found thrifting last year.

Now you can see what I mean about my overgrown creeper!!! Better than a dead creeper though! I love the way the rust is showing through the paint on the chairs (actually they are really rusty and I wouldn’t sit on them).

The flowers are off the bookcase in my familyroom so I just added a few little yellow heads to the arrangement.

More faded cushions but I do love those colours.

Spring Mantel

Such a lovely day today – spring is really here!! I had a little time to change things around a little to suit the weather (I’ve been loving all the fall decorating I’ve been seeing this week).  Actually, I love fall.  I love spring too but I hate summer so much here in Australia (not bad at the beach house but so stressful here on the farm!) I think this is why I love fall. I picked a bunch of spring blooms when I was over at our other farm this morning and well, you know how it goes….one thing leads to another and suddenly things are changing around.

I had this lamp in my sunroom and hadn’t used it in a while so thought it would be nice on my mantle (actually it’s my TV cabinet but I’m sure no-one minds!!). I’ve been going to paint it for ages so of course out came the paint. As usual I was doing it in a hurry and hadn’t stirred the paint properly and all I got was a light wash and I loved it!!! Sometimes things are  meant to be.

Spring cleaning in my wardrobe

I’ve had a busy day today. It’s been raining so it was a great time to get into my wardrobe and sort out my necklaces.
Years ago I hammered nails into some wooden coathangers to hang my necklaces on but over the years I had bought so many my ‘invention’ started to pull apart.

See what I mean????
Mr FH found me a piece of weldmesh which I painted white and secured to the wall behind our bedroom door. It is not visible at all from the bedroom when the door is open. Just what I wanted.

Sorting them into colours!!

I  know they don’t look like it but they are all hung according to colour. (I know, I’m a bit funny about things like that!)

Now it is so easy to choose which necklace I need at just a glance.

Beautiful Pink Roses

On Tuesday I had a trip to the dentist - if anyone knows me they will know just how much I hate going to the dentist but it's something we must do. While doing a quick bit of grocery shopping afterwards I saw this beautiful bunch of flowers. They had been reduce from $26.00 to $8.00 - what a steal.

Once I had them home and arranged I decided to put them on our tv cabinet but I must admit the dust nearly choked me!!!LOL So I decided on this nice sunny morning to start some spring cleaning.

I thought this little bird house fitted in really well with the floral pitcher I had for the flowers - just love that glass knob for the perch.

This print had originally been on the wall in my family room but had been changed around a bit so I brought it back in to match the other two I have hanging above the tv cabinet.

I added this little streetscape to the display as I thought the whole look needed something darker on this side - to even up the lovely dark green foliage. I have had these hand painted houses and church for many years. They are just too pretty to throw out.

I can see one of my prints is hanging a bit crooked - don't you just hate that when you see the photos - so I have attended to that and now have every thing looking ok.

Spring cleaning certainly makes you feel good - now I just need to do a little more..
