Pottery Barn Clock Plates

Oh my goodness…..I have fallen in love with Susan’s (Between Naps on the Porch) Pottery Barn inspired clock plates she posted about today. I will have my eyes peeled for some clear melamine plates to make some of those. We don’t have a Pottery Barn here in Australia so I just drool over some of the gorgeous eye candy I see on their web sight.
Any way, back to this weeks table. We had a lovely warm day over the weekend (it is raining now though so we are loving that!) so it was a great chance to set a table on the verandah.

I love the combination of purple and green but usually I use a dark purple but this week’s table started with a cloth I use at the gift shop for displays. As you can see the colours are really a purply/blue tone but I still love it with the bright spring-like green. I’m loving my polka dot plates too!. The wine glasses are acrylic (and very old!!) but to me they were a perfect match.

Romance on the Porch

I had a little bit of spare time yesterday so decided to put together a table for Valentine's Day. Even though Valentine's is usually red I had picked up this pretty bunch of pink roses from the supermarket on Saturday for $5 so pink it was going to be!! I had been cleaning the windows in the sunroom so thought the table might look nice in front of the window between the chairs. Please ignore the dry garden you can see in the background but that's what happens when there is no water to spare!! So happy it rained last week!

I once again was drawn to add green to my pink table. These little boxes hold chocolates - just right for Valentine's Day!

A small candle in a little urn takes centre stage - the table is small so there was no room for a large centrepiece.

I had bought these gorgeous napkin rings at Freedom (a homeware store here in Australia) while I was on holidays. They have a really big ring on them so I had to use a pink napkin inside the white one.

I used these cute depression glass bowls to serve the fruit in. These salad plates are from my large selection of pink floral china. I have two of this particular pattern.

Pink roses are my favourite. They have a few little 'imperfections' on their petals but hey don't we all???

A pretty pink box for this place setting. These boxes were favours from a wedding quite a few years ago and I just can't bring myself to throw them out.

This is my favourite pink bubbly!!! I love it!!! I tried using some of my old silver items without cleaning them and I'm not sure if that's the way I can go - I do love nice sparkling silverware!

A bird's eye view!! I used a couple of pieces of pale pink chiffon as tablecloths. I love the softness of the chiffon.

I seem to have a bit of reflection here on these plates but hopefully that will soon be a thing of the past as today I enrolled in a digital phoptgraphy course! I can't wait. LOL

I painted these old porch chairs a couple of years ago. I bought them from a secondhand store a long time ago when we enclosed our back porch. I was thinking about them the other day and realised the cushions have had five different coloured covers over the years. Talk about recycling!! PS And I have made them all myself!

We have had a terrible couple of weeks in Australia - first floods then last week a cyclone all in the eastern states and yesterday here in Western Australia a terrible bushfire which has burnt 64 homes to the ground. I don't know how anyone could get over that dreadful trauma. My heart goes out to them.

Going green on the porch

Yahoo!! Finally the drought has broken!!! We had a severe storm here at the farm house on Saturday and finally received some much needed rain. We were actually at the beach house babysitting little Miss L when the storm hit (which I am thankful for as it was particularly nasty!) and came home yesterday to have some lovely water in our dams. We have been carting water for our stock for some time now so that will no longer be needed. The whole countryside is looking very fragile and has been damaged from strong summer winds. Hopefully now we have turned the corner and are on the way to a much better season.

I have just found a wonderful porch party which is being held at Gypsy Brocante's blog each Monday. What a lovely way to start the week!! Many years ago we enclosed our back porch to make a sunroom so I'm guessing that is allowed to join the porch party!!

After packing away the Christmas decorations I decided on a lovely green tablescape for my old cupboard in the sunroom.

Lovely old depression glass started the display then it was just a matter of finding things to match.

I love this little birdhouse. The sunroom is the perfect place to display it. How cute is that glass knob perch!!

Pretty plates off the kitchen dressers filled in the gaps!!

My mum gave me this pretty little set of drawers for my birthday a couple of years ago. The colours match the farm house perfectly.

I have a small collection of depression glass - some I have found in the old farm house, some I have bought from antique shops and some I have bid for on e-bay and been lucky enough to win.

This fluted lolly dish is probably my favourite - it's so dainty with it's pretty frills around the edge.

How pretty is this cute shabby cupboard....

I have a little of this pale green china - I wish I had bought the complete set years ago as I really love it now.

Let's go to a porch party!!

I've heard a whisper there is a fabulous Porch Party going on today.... well, how can a girl not join a party?
Really it isn't very good porch weather here at the farm today - we've had a little drizzle of rain and the sun is hiding behind the clouds. Still it is winter here so really that's to be expected.

Even though I don't have much yellow inside my house I love this buttercup yellow colour I have on the porch. I bought this old desk/table about 10 years ago and painted it yellow - I could see it had been many other colours before I got it.

I have a couple of these yellow wicker chairs to sit on - they are starting to look a little like they need redoing but I think that will be a job for spring.

These birdhouses were all living inside when I had a much more countryfied style but since I changed things to shabby chic they have been placed on the porch.

Anyone for a cuppa from this old enamel teapot? I have a couple of these which I sometimes use for flowers - I love them filled with daisies! In the spring I have pots of purple violas and pansies on my porch - I love the combination of the purple and buttercup yellow.

Want somewhere to rest and watch the world go by??? Well I certainly wouldn't suggest this old wicker lounge - it is very fragile - in fact Mr FH would love to take it to the rubbish tip but I think it is so cute. The cat loves it too!!

I store my magzines in this old truck I happened to find one day - it stops them from getting dusty and fading in the hot Aussie sun.

This is an old meat safe which was used in the olden days to store food (it originally had flywire on three sides) but it makes a great piece for displaying more birdcages.

As I have taken my wicker table and chairs down to my new beach house I had to change things around a bit so I have brought this little setting up onto the porch. I  love the aged finish this setting has and it matches perfectly with the candle holder.

The cupboard in the background came from the rubbish tip.  It had no side, top, bottom or front - only the frame and back so I had to play around for a while to get it together. I made SNo 1 who was about 15 at the time come and help me pick it up! He was not happy!!! It really is only a dust collector!!
Hope you enjoyed stopping by,
Suzy
