Snaps from the beach house

Today we travelled home to the farm house. I wasn’t that sad about leaving the beach house as we are going back on Thursday evening. Our school year is about to start so it’s back to work for 3 days each week. usually I just work 2 day but for 5 weeks I am working one extra day for a friend. This gives me a little more money to spend!!!!
Before we left the beach house I snapped a few photos of my dining/living area. It is quite different to my farm house.








One of my favourite things are the black lamp shades. I just love the way the light shows through to make lovely patterns on the walls.
Tomorrow I have a busy day mowing lawns and raking leaves that have blown in so that when I return to work things look a little tidier!!

Pink Cups and Boiled Lollies

Today I decided to make a little arrangement on my kitchen counter. My Aunt had given me this pretty little cake plate for Christmas- Mr FH thought it was a doll's plate!! I sat a few pretty pink bits and pieces on a cake stand, added a sugar heart and a little pink bag with a bottle of boiled lollies in it (this was a wedding favour but way too pretty to eat!). Simple, quick and easy - my type of arrangement.

Birthday Flowers

I had a birthday last week and SNo1 and his gorgeous girlfriend gave me these beautiful flowers. They quite often buy flowers for me which I think is just beautiful. The gorgeous perfume bottles were a present from my mum - I think they will look lovely on the bathroom bench at the beach house. This is probably the start of another collection!

Aren't these buds just beautiful....

I was supposed to be starting my photography course tomorrow night but it has been posponed until next Wednesday night so that is very disappointing. I'll just have to keep practicing for another week!

Spring cleaning

I have been trying to do my spring cleaning...well, I've done one room and I'm on a mission to do a room each week. Sounds good in theory, doesn't it?? This week I cleaned out a guestroom (or DNo2's old bedroom). I still have the wardrobes to go through as they are filled with my summer clothes. I really need to sift through them and transfer the ones I want into my wardrobe and send the rest to charity. I thought I would share some photos of this room with you.

Once again we have pink walls - probably more my choice than my daughter's!! 

This pretty floral quilt sometimes lives on my bed - I love to change things around a bit so I can have a different look without spending any money.

I love this piece of iron work above the bed - it is actually garden art from my sister's nursery but I thought it was perfect above the bed.

The afternoon sun is just peeping through the trees.

A few little pretties on the bedside table. 

I have pretty plates on the walls in many of the rooms of my house - I just love them even if they are looking a bit shabby. (Whoops, looks like my fingers are in this photo! lol)

Lovely bath oils and lotions for guests to enjoy.

This poor old patchwork ted looks a bit lonely now - he had a smaller brother but SNo 1's dog managed to get inside when I wasn't home oneday and totally wrecked the small bear.

Romantic Style

Don't you just love it when you the mailman brings a parcel?? I do. Just look what I received yesterday - this beautiful book called "Romantic Style".

I could move into this gorgeous room within minutes, I'm sure. It is just so pretty.

Candlelight is another of my favourite things too!! It just makes everything look special.

This green fluted sweet plate was a find from our old farm house and the bags of lollies were favours from a wedding we attended. You can see it here.

Pretty floral cups and new books - two of my most favourite things. Another is chocolate - besides my family, of course!!

Look at these gorgeous pink florals - most of these I have picked up at second hand stores or in our old farm house.

I love the way the sunroom walls look through this soft filter - I wish my whole house was like that!

The inside of this book is just as inviting as the cover - I can't put it down. lol

Salt Lakes in Australia

Last Friday Mr FH and I decided to take a drive. We had heard that the farmers east of us were far worse off than us with the drought so we thought we'd take a look.  The town is surround by salt lakes which at this time of the year are usually filled with water.

As you can see there isn't much water this year. Some of the crops were ruined but there were others which were still hanging on and quite good -ours are about in the middle of that!!

This really shows the harsh Australian landscape at it's best. By the end of summer the wind will have blown all this precious soil away. We ended up driving over 200km!

Tomorrow I'm working for my sister in her gift shop -that will be a fun day as she has had some Christmas stock arrive.

Do you love purple?

I do!  I really, really love purple in the garden. I have lots of it. I also have lots of white and soft buttercup yellow daisies. I think purple is such a happy colour to have around. Funny isn't it that I don't wear a lot of purple though.

Beautiful Pink Roses

On Tuesday I had a trip to the dentist - if anyone knows me they will know just how much I hate going to the dentist but it's something we must do. While doing a quick bit of grocery shopping afterwards I saw this beautiful bunch of flowers. They had been reduce from $26.00 to $8.00 - what a steal.

Once I had them home and arranged I decided to put them on our tv cabinet but I must admit the dust nearly choked me!!!LOL So I decided on this nice sunny morning to start some spring cleaning.

I thought this little bird house fitted in really well with the floral pitcher I had for the flowers - just love that glass knob for the perch.

This print had originally been on the wall in my family room but had been changed around a bit so I brought it back in to match the other two I have hanging above the tv cabinet.

I added this little streetscape to the display as I thought the whole look needed something darker on this side - to even up the lovely dark green foliage. I have had these hand painted houses and church for many years. They are just too pretty to throw out.

I can see one of my prints is hanging a bit crooked - don't you just hate that when you see the photos - so I have attended to that and now have every thing looking ok.

Spring cleaning certainly makes you feel good - now I just need to do a little more..
