Sunny Tablescape

Did I say that I didn't have any yellow china???? Well, I don't as such but I set myself a challenge of preparing a yellow tablescape for Thursday's fun just to see what I could find in my cupboards. I think I did ok!!

This gorgeous platter was a birthday gift from my dear friend (yes, the one who buys me lots of nice things!) and I have had it for many years.

My sunroom (which you have all seen - and is pink and green now) was at one stage blue and yellow. I have collected a large amount of blue and white china over the years and had just a few pieces with yellow on to go with it.

This serving platter is so cute with the pretty little girls on it.

 

I started out with a buttercup yellow throw on my table I set by the window in my sunroom. A couple of blue birdhouses off my front porch were dusted off and added to the table - these used to live in the blue and yellow sunroom but now adorn my porch.

I love birdhouses but they don't see to be in fashion for decorating as they were a while back - such a shame cos they are so cute!

White chargers started off the stack of china. Next a pretty blue plate with white daisies around the edge topped with a white plate with sprigs of spring flowers and butterflies on. 

A pale blue napkin held in place with a white holder and some pretty blue and white flowers brings the whole setting together.

My two blue candles are sitting in hand painted bowls which DNo 1 pruchased for me when she had a trip to Turkey. They are just gorgeous.

As my table was very small and seemed to be quite full I decided to set out the coffee mugs, milk jug and sugar bowl on my little cupboard just near my door.

I had these gorgeous white flowers in a jug on my kitchen table so I transferred them into this great jug to match the cups - the blue flowers in the jug are fake but I like that little bit of extra colour.

I puchased this jug and the four matching mugs at a little gift shop many years ago when they were having a sale - they were all $2 each but sadly over the years I have broken a couple of the mugs.

Aren't they just too cute???

Sunning ourselves for Outdoor Wednesday

I didn't realize we had been having such a cold snap .......Mr FH and I have been 'babysitting' SNo1's dog for a couple of weeks as he just loves to get to the farm and have a good run around (the dog, not the son!!). I was walking through my living room the other day when I spied Bruiser through the window and couldn't resist taking this snap!! I'm sure it will bring a smile to your face.

As you can see he is sleeping in the sun on top of the BBQ! He could have told me he was going to do this so I could have tidied up for the photo shoot!!

Care for a cuppa???

Wow, Tuesday again!! I've hardly had time to draw breath this week... Mr FH and I are making a weekly trip down to our new house trying to get that set up for us to 'live in' parttime.  Sooo much fun but I am getting a little tired. It is a 3 hour drive each way. Last weekend we took our new outdoor setting down - my fabulous sister was able to get it cost price for me through her shop - yay aren't sisters great!!  I've been at work yesterday and today so now I feel I can slow down a little.

I have some pretty photos I took on my recent trip to Kalgoorlie to share with you - more mouthwatering teacups just waiting to join a tea party!!! No better day in blogland than Tuesday for all our china to come out!!

This gorgeous sunny yellow china really caught my eye - I really don't have much in the way of yellow - maybe it's time to start another collection!!

Ah ha - this is more like me - lots of pink and lots of flowers!!! I love this dainty little floral teapot in the front - just the right size for a single cup - just too cute!!

How beautiful would this look on a lovely spring table - we are having a very dull wintery day here today but I think this teapot could really lift my spirits!

I know there are lots of rooster lovers around blogland who would love this cute range. The heart shaped dish on the lower level is gorgeous.

How's this for a wonderful white serving dish??? (I have just noticed the plate stand in the front - sorry!). I also love the grey rooster at the back.

Breakfast in bed

While I was busy taking happy snaps of my daughter's bedroom I thought I would set up a breakfast tray ready for Tablescape Thursday with Susan.

I had one little white rose so picked that and tied it up with a blue ribbon.

I used my vintage salt and pepper shakers and a pretty doiley on this great tray I bought for half price a while back. I just love the colour and shape of the edges.

I didn't have a silver egg cup so instead I used a silver napkin ring on it's side - just perfect for a boiled egg for breaky.

This tray has the most gorgeous legs - I have it displayed on a dresser in my kitchen all the time. I actually bought it to use in the centre of the dining table but it really is a little too big for that.

This little teapot is just perfect for one person - just big enough for a a cuppa then a refill.

 

I have these pretty little dresses displayed in the bedroom - DNo 1 who turns 31 this year wore them when she was a baby. They are so frilly and cute - quite a bit different to the clothes babies wear today.

 This beautiful painting of a blue wren is on the bedside table - it was a gift from a friend for my 50th birthday - it really is exquisite.

Take one rusty old bed.....

A few years ago DNo 1 was coming home after a couple of years living in London. While she was away SNo 1 grew quite a bit and could no longer fit into his single bed - so a shift into his sister's room seemed to be the answer. That is until it was time for her to return. (My kids still have their own rooms at home even though they all went away to boarding school when they were twelve.) I was trying to think of a way to make the little bedroom nice and cosy for DNo 1. I had been looking at an old iron bed at one of our old farm houses and finally decided to take it to Perth to see if it could be restored. This is what I started with....

Needless to say Mr FH thought it was a total waste of time and energy(and of course, money!). But after much work by some dedicated man (who told me this is the worst he has restored!!) the bed was ready to collect.  Ta Dah!!! Were we in for a shock!!

It is hardy recognisable - it has been powder coated in an off-white colour which I think is lovely and feminine.

Up close it is hard to believe the bed can look sooo good and nothing at all like the pile of rust we had to start with.

As you can imagine we had to replace all the brass fittings but these were matched to the original as closely as possible.

I found this pretty pale blue and cream quilt with the lovely name of Venice to go on the bed only to have my daughter tell me her favourite city she had visited was Venice!!

It was meant to be..

Mini Bathroom Re-vamp

Today was a dull old day at the farm house so I thought I would do a mini revamp in the bathroom. I had bought this gorgeous hot pink Cyclamen from the garden centre the other day for the bathroom as they do well in there (I buy one every winter!!) so I looked around to see what I could find to go with it.

 

A few gorgeous candles ready to use for a nice soak in the tub seemed the way to go!! This tall hot pink candle is a favourite - I just wish I could find some more like it.

Some pretty Cath Kidston soaps are always a delight - I always have these on hand as I like to pop one on the pillow when I have guests to stay (I really would love some vintage nightdresses to use as well but haven't come across them yet...).

 

I think that looks better - nothing like a bit of hot pink to liven things up a little.

Gorgeous White China

When I was recently in Kalgoorlie I was looking around a little gift shop when I saw this beautiful china. I really fell in love with it - can you blame me???

It is just so delicate and feminine and white!!

These cute little teaspoons look just right for an afternoon tea party!!

More pretty teaspoons - this time cute little bluebirds.

I didn't even look at the price of these as I knew I wasn't able to buy them as I was in the bus with my cousins and there was hardly any room. I could see them being chipped and they are just too pretty for that!

I can just see this in one of my dressers - what a gorgeous tablescape I could make with this....
