Spring clean in autumn!

Today I am re-posting this post about my sunroom to show you my favourite cupboards! I'm joining MyFavouriteCupboard@NoteSong and PorchoftheMonth@GypsyBrocante. Come and have a look - they are great!!


Yesterday I finished cleaning my sunroom! I have about 20 ladies coming for lunch next Saturday for DNo 2's baby shower (how exciting!!) so I thought I must spruce this place up!
I have a lot of pretty china  in the room so I started washing all of that - what a job but it looks so beautiful after it is done I just love it all the more. This room started off as a verandah (porch to you Americans!) and was filled in with glass doors and windows. I have redecorated this room many time - in fact the sofa has had many face lifts from brown to dark green to blue and now to pretty pink and green stripe.

I have stripped all the sofas and washed all the covers along with the cushion covers so it's looking good!!

The chairs were originally natural cane colour but a few years ago I gave them a coat of Antique White - much better I think.

This is my gorgeous Robert Gordon china which I have shown you before in a tablescape - so pretty!

This is another little cupboard that I gave a quick facelift to. I have this between the door and the window - such a tiny spot but this fits there perfectly.

This old cupboard houses some of my blue and white china collection - I couldn't bear to pack it away when I changed the room colour so I just added a couple of pieces of pink to the display and it seems to work quite ok.

Cushions are a favourite of mine - the rose fabric on this one matches perfectly with the print I have on the wall which I showed you last week. Such a lucky find.

More roses!!!  I'm so lucky Mr FH really doesn't care how much I paint the house or move things around (as long as he doesn't have to do it!!) so I get a lot of enjoyment out of redecorating and changing things.

 This really is one of my favourite rooms where I spend a lot of time.

Lunch with Mum

 Today I had lunch with Mum! She has been staying with me for a few days while Mr FH is away. I thought as it was Thursday I would set a nice table for our lunch. I set up a small table in the family room which was lovely and sunny at first.
                         

I used a soft pink and green cloth to start with then layered some pale blue, buttercup yellow and pink tableware. The flatware was a bargain at $5 a few weeks ago but somehow I don't think it would stand up to a big steak!

I had these gorgeous organza bags (pink and blue) so I popped little jars of coloured lollies into them then placed them in the bowls. 

These lovely speckled eggs were left over from Easter so I added them to the table for an after treat.

(The yellow one wasn't quite this bright - don't know what happened there LOL)

My Mum is a real Cup-of-Tea Lady so we used my soft green teapot and creamer. I added some fun teaspoons my friend had given me for Christmas a few years ago - aren't they cute!

I have a few large heart chocolates that I have ready for the baby shower so I used one near my jug of roses.

How nice is it to share your lunch with someone special.......

My pink and green sunroom

Is it Tuesday already??  I am totally confused with the Easter break but I see Marty's Table Top Tuesday is up and running so it must be Tuesday. I have a little sunroom at the back of the farm house which really cops the morning sun in the summer so we have timber blinds we leave down in the summer but now the sun is not so fierce I lift the blinds right up and let in the light. I have done a quick bit of dusting so I can show you a corner of the room.

I decided this room needed an update a couple of years ago so painted it this gorgeous soft green which has the lovely name of Lacey Fern.

This fabulous canvas was the start of the room coming together - I just love this jug of roses in the pinks and greens.

I already had the old cupboard which I purchased for $50 so I gave that a quick coat of paint. The potted geranium in the corner is fake and the beautiful trays at the back were a birthday gift from a friend (I think she knows me very well!!).

The hot pink candle I picked up on sale somewhere - wish I had got more in other colours and the rest of the display are either gifts or things I have purchased from time to time.

I will show you more of this room when I manage to get the rest of the cleaning done!!

Garage Sale Find

A couple of weeks ago I went garage saling with my friend. As soon as I got out of the car I saw this print...

I really loved the frame but the roses were the wrong colour for my house but at $5 I couldn't miss a bargain. I decided I would remove the back when I got home but unfortunately the back didn't come off so I took it along to my glazier and he cut me a piece of mirror to fit and even glued it in for me!!

I am really happy now it is hanging in my family room - I am especially happy it only cost me $20 all up. 

Mr FH suggested I sand it down and repaint it and it would look nice then!!! He was surprised when I said this was how it was meant to be. How come men just don't 'get it'.

Marty's Cloche Party

Today I wanted to share with you this cute little minature tea set I have and the perfect place to show it was under a cloche at Marty's party!

The tea set was hand painted for me many years ago by a friend and I have managed to keep it safe from little fingers.

The teapot and sugar bowl both have removable lids and have the rose painted on both sides. I have placed it on a white side plate with gold trim as I thought this brought out the gold edging on the tea set.

The glass dome is actually off a lovely mantle clock but it was the perfect fit to cover the tea set.

I have placed my sewing thimble next to the tea set so you can really see how tiny it is...

Easter Tablescape

As Easter is really just around the corner I thought I would make a little Easter table. Most of you are welcoming spring so your tables are in such beautiful 'springy' colours but here at the farm house we are preparing for autumn. The mornings have certainly changed - they are so lovely and crisp - such a change from the heat we experienced this last summer.
I have already showed you my table piece made from beautiful little painted pink eggs so I thought to save time I would use that.

I started with a pink and white check cloth (this is one I use when I do the decorating at my sister's gift shop).

I had a bag of this gorgeous pink shredded paper which I placed down the centre of the table..

 

I used my wedding china ( this is really old - I mean like 33 years old!) as I love pink and brown together and as we are heading towards autumn I thought  would use my old dinnerset.    

Once again I have used my favourite pink polka dot flatware and I have matched it with baby pink napkins.

                                               

I just love these eggs (DNo 1 has managed to get me the blue and green sets and they were 50% off today!)

                                               

Anyone for coffee?? These cups look black in the photo but they really are dark brown.

            

These cute tealight candle holders I have had for quite some time and DNo 1 gave me the matching tray for my birthday a couple of years ago.

          

     

How come candle light makes everything look so special?? If I had my way I would live by candlelight but I would still have to have power for everything else - especially my computer!!

Pink Easter Eggs

This week I went to Perth to see 'Chicago' at the theatre with my Mum, my sister and my two daughters- it was really fabulous. I stayed an extra couple of days so I could catch up with my littlegrandson.  While shopping I came across some packs of cute painted Easter Eggs. As they were 30% off I purchased the pink but my daughter is going back to the store to get me the blue and green as well. I am going to use them for Easter but also for a baby shower I am holding for DNo 2. Today I took some snaps of them on my kitchen table - I just love the colour so much.
