Farmyard Fun!

Well, life has returned to normal now since the summer holidays are basically over. The school term commenced this week so it's back to work now. We will still try to get to the beach house for a couple of days each week if we can (I only work 2 days) and enjoy the last of the summer weather. Talking of weather, poor old Queensland is about to cop it again. They are expecting Australia's worst cyclone which is about to hit in 3 hours. As if they haven't had enough problems over the last month with all the floods. We are praying for them - I always thought it would be lovely to live over there but now I have changed my mind.

I wouldn't mind living in this cute little house though!! Just big enough for me to do as I please. Don't get me wrong, Mr FH lets me do anything I want in the way of decorating but this would be a girly place just for me.

I purchased these gorgeous sunny yellow salad plates last week - six of them for $1 each and straight away I thought of a farmyard setting.

I had used these coffee mugs for our everyday coffee for quite a few years but had decided I needed a change so they were put away in the cupboard. I knew they would be perfect for my farmyard table.

I love these lush green paddocks - I wish our farm looked like that. Actually at present our farm looks a bit like that burlap and raffia!!!  I'm sure that will change soon when we receive some more lovely rain.

I loved this pretty little plate - I used to use it a lot for a quick coffee and slice of fruit cake!

The ripples on this plate remind me of the sun! They also remind me of the colour of rippening wheat - something there wasn't too much of last year!

I have a lovely pitcher hiding in the background - it has a beautiful colourful rooster painted on the side. I'm sure he think he's king of the farmyard!

The gold napkins are a perfect match to the salad plates. It's such a shame I only have 2!

I just saw that cute farmer's wife standing in the paddock and am trying decide if it looks like me!! I'm being kind to myself and saying that I don't really look like that!!

This is the leftover burlap from my Christmas burlap runner. I was planning on using that again but forgot to bring it from the beach house. My life seems to be a constant stream of taking things back and forward between the two houses.

I used an old wooden box as the backdrop for my table and softened the whole table with raffia. It is very messy and my floor looked a bit like the chickens had been inside.

I hope you enjoyed my farmyard fun table!

Suzy

Your dishes are extremely charming. I do so love the yellow napkins, I think it's the texture and the color. Your yellow plates are quite a find.

I'm not usually a 'country look' kind of gal, but your tablescape really appeals to my sensibilities...just the right mix of warm and wonderful colors with just the right touch of texture. Thank you for sharing this marvelous design. Cherry Kay

I did enjoy your farm table and the dishes are so cheery. I have been watching the news about Australia and hope things settle down, and that there is not as much destruction as it appears there will be.

Our daughter spent 6 months on a sheep station in Balmoral , Australia, she loved it although she worked very hard. We have hosted her host family over the years since. Australia holds a special place in my heart for many reasons...this post was a very pleasant reminder of that.
