Cancer Foundation Fundraising

Last Thursday we held our annual fundraising afternoon tea for the Cancer Foundation. We have held this fundraising for the last few years at our primary school. It is such a lot of work for the staff but so worth it. We have a tiny school with just 7 students and the same amount of staff (I know, it doesn’t make sense!!) so it really is a very important day to us. This last 6 months we have had 5 ladies in our extended community who have been diagnosed with breast cancer – that is a fairly high rate given the amount of people in our communities.
Each year I pack up a lot of my pretty china and take in to use for the day. All the staff cook the afternoon tea, we all hep with the decorations and the students take the orders for the drinks and serve the food. A great day to be part of.

We had an amazing collection of prises for the raffle – all donated by staff, family and local businesses.

Winter is not far off here – we have had a couple of very cold days and nights. Time to light the fire and get rugged up. I can’t wait.

Your tea looks amazing and for such a good cause! You asked a question on my blog so I thought I'd come over to yours to provide the answer. You wanted to know whether my bangles scratched the face of my watch and so far, I've been lucky -- no scratches on any of the watches!
I love the fact that you live in Australia. I have cousins down under who are always after me to visit and I haven't yet. Some day soon, maybe! It was nice to read that you're going into winter soon. It's 105 today in Scottsdale, AZ, so cool temps sound marvelous!

Thanks so much for sharing at the Say G’day Saturday linky party. It is so wonderful that your tiny school has made such a huge difference! My daughter has just posted about something they did at their school to raise money for cancer research. If you are interested here is the link to her site:
