I have really been enjoying my time off work (I have had 2 weeks spring holiday and another 2 weeks for nanny duties!!). I can always fill in my days just pottering around enjoying being at home. This week I set a pretty sunny yellow table. I used my black dinner set (which I never thought I would own!!) and shopped the house for bits and pieces to fill up the table!! My daisy bushes are covered in flowers so they seemed the obvious choice for the centrepiece. Enjoy!!

Today is a lovely quiet Sunday. Mr FH snoozing on the couch and me playing on the computer. We have just had Son No1 and his partner come to stay for the night and they brought our dear little 2 1/2 year old grandson with them for a sleepover. We were also babysitting our 18mth old granddaughter while her parents attended a wedding so we’ve had a busy 24 hours. The kids slept well though so that was a bonus (I need my sleep!!).
I’m sharing with you some of my pretty Peace roses which are just starting to bloom. They are quite yellow at the moment – I do prefer them when they are a little more creamy but really any rose is beautiful!

I wasn’t planning on setting a blue table this week but I found these lovely blue glasses at the thrift store on the weekend so I just had to use them. I’ve been looking at all the gorgeous wine glasses with beautiful coloured stems for ages but every time I saw them in the shops they were about $25 each. Way too much! So when I spied these the other day for $1.50 each I grabbed them as quickly as I could.
Instead of having blue and white I decided to be a little different and set my Calico ware china with taupe plates instead. The flatware I had bought a while back was a perfect match. (Sorry about the bits on the napkins left from the burlap runner!)
Once again I was having trouble making some sort of centrepiece for the table. I just used a lovely hurricane I had received for my birthday and gathered up some small cups, saucers, china balls and spare lids and piled them up.
The table ended up looking a bit ‘fallish’ again but that’s ok I got to use my new glasses!!

Don’t panic I haven’t taken ill and been raced off to hospital…..Last Friday Mr FH and I attended the graduation ceremony for our gorgeous son. He has been back at uni this year and has just graduated as an ambo!!! Yippee!! I am so proud of him and all the work he has put into this. He still has another 18 mths study (while working on the ambulance) to complete before he is a fully qualified paramedic. He has just finished his 12 week induction course after attending uni for the first six months of the year. Today he is out amongst the action!! He has done a few shifts on the ambulance as an extra but from now on there will be just him and a paramedic. He has completed his driver training course but won’t get to be the driver for a while yet. He’s very tall, handsome and very caring so I’m sure his patients will be in good hands!! (I think I might be a bit biassed!! LOL).
Tomorrow I am off to rearrange my sister’s gift shop – can’t wait. I have lots of ideas running around in my head.

Wow, what a week at the farm house!!! DNo2 has given us the beautiful gift of a darling baby girl. She has a big sister who is 18mths old and looks just like her! They are home from hospital(with no rush to the hospital needed!!) and settling in very well. DNo1 has two spunky little boys (2 1/2 yrs and 9 mths) so I feel very blessed to have the joy of 4 grandchildren in 2 1/2 years!!
I have been watching all the gorgeous tablescapes and mantels everyone has been posting around blogland and even though it’s spring her in Australia I thought I would join in. We had a cool day last week with drizzly rain so it was the perfect day to make a ‘fallish’ table.
I don’t have a lot of orange in my home (actually none!) but I had purchased this tableware with orange flowers on it one day when it was on sale so I paired it with my green dinner plates. I have seen some gorgeous old dough bowls around but as I didn’t own one of them I have used an old wooden divided serving tray and added some candles and fresh nasturiums from the garden. The green flatware I purchased a while ago and paid $4.00 for a set of four!! Bargain!
